Unborn CoP

There was Hitler and there was Gandhi. There was Mao Tse Tung and there was Martin Luther King. There was Jim Morrison and there was Kurt Kobain. Whether they fell on the Evil or Good side, irrespective of that…they were Cult of Personality. They swayed masses of people. Till the 1990’s Cult of Personality was a phenomenon in various parts of the world. A decade later, Cult of Personality seems to be a virtually impossible prospect. An age of individualism that crept in slowly powered by new media enabled the voice and freedom of expression for common man. He is no more common man, he is man who has his point of view and he has the medium to express it. Why need a Cult of Personality? Or better put, Will there be another Cult of Personality?

My View:

Mass Individualism represents the awakening of the human spirit! While still in its nascent stages, this individualism on an aggregate represents stubborn resistance to accepted conventions, though it doesn’t represent any collective ideology or school of thought, reason being the nascent stage itself. A common man today has the freedom not just to think alternatively but also express his thought through a medium, though he himself might not have a concrete solution. But since there is no collective ideology or school of thought to subscribe to, the scope for Cult of Personality is still huge. We shall be bound to see the emergence of such individuals, but this time, those individuals shall have an impact that is too profound and far reaching in its effect on people when compared to their yesteryear counterparts. While their yesteryear counterparts catered to masses of people who were merely souls ready to subscribe to a voice they couldn’t voice out, the unborn Cult of Personality will cater to a superior race of people with diverse individualities, but what binds even such diversely individualistic people to follow the Cult of Personality will be ‘height of freedom’ that the CoP shall drive at.

Freedom is the basic value proposition a Cult of Personality offers his followers, but it’s the ‘Height of this Freedom and its Possibilities’ that the coming generation of Cult of Personality will sway people on.

As long as there is superior knowledge and the unattained answers are left unattained, CoP is a possibility and each new CoP shall be more profound and impacting than their predecessors.

Who’s the next CoP? Can you guess?

I think CoP is a phenomenon of oppressed masses... when people are treated like a herd of sheep, they look for a shepherd and then rises a power the stirs the masses and directs their suppressed energy (in the form of anger and frustration) to a particular direction - be it the indian struggle of independence led by Gandhi or the anti-jew movement led by hitler.
I guess we aren't there yet... It is bound to happen again but with our increased tolerence levels and self-centred lifestyles, things will have to go really bad!! Moreover, with the advent of global media and internet, this time something like this will be on an international scale.

Anyway, A well written post. In fact, i've communicated with you through ryze long time back... even talked to you on the phone back then.
